The CUA was formed JAN 4th 1994.
by Jon Stokoe,Carol Stokoe and David Grant.

Jon Stokoe 6th Dan founder of the union wanted to be able to teach Aikido with a "Laissez-faire" approach. He did not want to be held down by the politics that sometimes surrounds other unions. The obvious answer was to start his own.

Now after fourteen years the CUA just seems to get stronger. Several Dan grades trained by Stokoe now teach alongside him.

He is a senior coach with the Shin-Gi-Tai Aikido Society Wales.

Shin-Gi-Tai is British Aikido Board Recognised.
